Overseas Students
Physics:
An overseas applicant can write to the Admissions
Co-ordinator, Subject Board of Physics,
(sbp@theory.tifr.res.in)
with his/her Curriculum Vitae, academic records, publications if
any, and ask 3 referees to write about the aptitude and
qualifications of the candidate to pursue graduate studies at TIFR.
The referees should be teachers of the candidate in undergraduate
and/or M.Sc. levels in relevant subjects. If on the basis of
material provided, the application is found to be promising, a
written test may be arranged at a foreign university where we have
Faculty contacts or at an Indian embassy abroad.
At present, TIFR has only a Ph.D. programme with
full-time study in Physics and no separate M.Sc. programme in this
subject.
Biology, NCBS:
An overseas applicant can write to the Head, Academic Activities (phd@ncbs.res.in)
with his/her Curriculum Vitae, academic records, publications if
any. They will be issued an application material .
If the application is found to be promising, an interview may be
arranged at a foreign university where we have Faculty contacts or
at an Indian embassy abroad.
We do not have specific English proficiency requirements. However, since all academic activities, including Graduate courses, labs and seminars are conducted in English, we expect the students to have good command of English (both written and oral).
